Felix Mors in Caritate

By Guinevere Freeman

I die a thousand frozen deaths

In your warmth’s absence

And this lacuna I contest

I draw in shallow, hollow breaths

The affection is so intense

That my heart flutters in my chest

My heart is so utterly calm

my soul so intensely settled

Now I know accismus is void

The touch of your skin is a balm

Flower beautifully petaled

I am so very overjoyed

You make me know it in my bones

That I am so illecebrous

So I am in constant smyster

As sturdy as deep mountain stones

In so delighted sleeplessness

They will say “you so enticed her”

I can only hope you’re not mendacious

Or meretricious

I have been able to novate

What I should have decathected

But now in you I do cathect
