Feed With Eyes

The lamb's eye reflects no self, only the field.

A blink, not retreat, not recognition

the world folds inward for a breath,

then unfolds without memory.

The falcon watches time without touching it.

We say prey, but in their gaze

no noun, no verb, only being.

To look is not to want.

To blink is not to forget.

Their eyes do not lie

because they never promised truth.

Ours, wet with the hunger of symbols,

glistening with the weight of choice,

each glance a negotiation.

The dog dreams in our direction.

We answer with intention and call it love.

"Beautiful! The poem's simplicity belies its profound exploration of perception and gaze. The language is sparse yet evocative, inviting contemplation. A thought-provoking piece that lingers!"
