Fake Smiles

By Tanishq Vasania

“It was her smile that drew me in, but it was her scars that captured my soul and bound my heart to stay with her”

Wherever she went, she brought happiness and light with her smiles.

No matter how dark or lonely her life was she never failed to bring light and warmth in life of people around her. Everyone looked at her bright face and adored the wide grin that stretched across her face, making her look like an ethereal angel. But sadly, that’s all everyone saw her bright smile and angelic face, no one ever tried to look a little deeper, to actually look into her eyes and see the melancholy she hides in them.

Nobody saw how broken and hurt she was, how hard she tries to hide her scars behind that smile. While everyone around her was falling for her smiles, she was waiting for someone to discover the scars that she had hidden deep beneath the mask of her happy self. She wanted someone to look at her scars and appreciate them instead of her smile, she wanted someone to see how broken and damaged she was but still trying her best not fall apart by concealing it behind her laughs. She wanted someone to see her darkness, her scars and fall in love with her flaws instead of her perfect happy image she keeps up as a front. She wants someone who will proudly say that they fell in love with her scars and not her smile.
