Fading Echoes

By Parikshit Kumar Sharma

I miss the real me—

A careless, free bird in the open sky,

Emotionless, yet full of pride,

With nothing to prove to anyone,

And confidence enough to conquer the world.

But as time went by,

I became someone

Even I don’t recognize.

Overthinking became the dose

For sleepless nights.

Fighting battles for people

Who won’t even stand beside me.

Doubting my efforts in every situation,

Tangled in emotions,

Constantly wondering

What’s wrong and what’s right—

Every time.
