Eyes Without a Face

By Abhi Gupta

Is it curiosity I see,

Or love in your eyes for me?

The way you stare, a ghostly glare,

Yet in its depth, I feel your care,

As if you see us as a pair.

Each time you stare, I feel the air,

Stripped of defenses, laid bare.

In that moment, there’s no despair,

Only questions lingering there.

But I beware of your stare,

For sometimes it’s a shadowed glare.

And though that’s rare, it leaves me torn,

Between the love I feel and the ache I mourn.

Are they windows to a soul unspoken?

Or veils for a heart that’s broken?

In your gaze, I search, I seek,

For the truths your lips cannot speak.

Eyes without a face, what do they hide?

A world of love, or an empty tide?

I stand here, caught in your embrace,

Lost in the depth of eyes without a face.
