Eventually…

And another day has passed.

In the same place where I first opened my eyes.

The things are still where they’ve always been-

Messy. Unsettled.

A day, a week, a month-until it turns to years,

Yet the reasons remain the same.

I am tired of carrying, holding, dragging, and bearing.

What feels like a rope-not simply attached,

But something bound to me, like a part of my own body

I am forced to hold and accept.

If only I could, I would.

But how?

Why does even escape feel like pleading?

Like begging.

What help? From whom? From where?

Is there still enough air left to breathe?

Forgive me. I’m sorry.

I know this feels like a great defeat.

But STILL I hope it comes-

Not now, not tomorrow, not the day after,

Not next week, nor next month,

But I know it will.

And when that destined moment arrives,

May I be graced to see a day that passes-

Even if I remain in the place where I first opened my eyes,

Even everything is still where it’s always been-

Messy. Unsettled.

May I call it mine,

A life I can finally smile and be proud of.

Not for anyone else, but for myself.

Padayon. Puhon.

I believe that victory is meant for all-Eventually.
