Evanesce

By Kavya Mehulkumar Mehta

I’ll evanesce

like the stars at dawn,

rapidly, like fog does.

Though you’ll see me,

you’ll never see my soul.

I’ll be there,

but never truly present.

I’ll always evanesce

in all the ways a human can—

far from anyone’s reach,

like how the moon is.
