Eternity a Promise

I would wait for an eternity, 

Was not a promise. 

But a love that refuses to rest. 

You test my love, by leaving me there, 

I wait with bated breath, and hope, 

For the love that left me,rooting my soul to the shore. The longing stayed while I perished, 

Your shirt in my lap, still cherished 

When I was left with nothing, 

But the bits of flesh and bones, 

I searched for something 

To call my own. 

You were still not here, 

To pick up the pieces that fall. 

I wait for you to mend and repair 

And to recall the love we once shared. 

All alone as I sit in the middle of the ocean's chair, 

To fix us where everyone stares 

With my heart laid bare. 

I would wait for an eternity, Was a promise not to share.
