Empty Frame

It was the lingering of words that never rhymed.

I trace the days without him, how they misaligned.

I wake, I breathe, I am here,

But something inside me remains unclear.

I don’t look the same when I look at me now.

It killed me when it was no longer him and me.

Since then, I’ve just been learning how to survive.

Some days I wonder if I’m even alive.

It all turned into a watch with no time.

The days bled dry, completely undefined.

From above, you’d glimpse a being who

Forgot to feel,

A body with wounds that time won’t heal.

It is untranslatable, all I bear.

Unpredictable-how unfair.

Like the skies turning evergreen,

Each moment mocks me with

What could’ve been.

It didn’t just fracture my heart.

It split through my every part.

Now I am trapped in a body so cold,

Numb to the core, with nothing to hold.

’Cause once he left, it all dissolved.

A part of me that mattered took the fall.

I buried my soul with his body below.

I am still here, but not whole,

Just a body with no soul.
