Emptiness

Sitting in grief,

That’s something I would like to

do with you.

But I know you will not reach out,

well that makes us two.

My mind says no,

my heart says yes.

Why do we have to live in distress?

I saw the spot

where we first met.

Hoping your car was parked there.

But that spot was empty,

and my phone did not light up.

If I asked you to come back,

would you have run back to me?

If only this were easy,

you would have been here with me.
