I met her one fine day.
A purely chance meeting.
A close friend, close as friends can be.
Someone to whom I could be me.
We talked for many hours,
not a single boring moment.
We talked as if we wouldn’t meet again,
because she was moving away the next day.
Even if I was inexplicably sad,
My face hid it exceptionally well.
I looked at her laughing face
And couldn’t control a drooling smile.
If I could have looped time,
This moment would have been it.
She caught me in a friendly embrace,
filling a previously unknown void.
A parting gift and a final goodbye,
Earned me another tight hug.
After we went our separate ways,
a chasm opened in my heart.
Even if we moved apart,
Even if she forgot my name,
Even if I moved on from that day,
This moment will always stay with me.
