Echoes of A Father

I am just a teenage girl, lost in the world,

With a heart that aches, as memories unfurl.

My father’s gone, but his love still stays,

Guiding me softly through my quiet days.

He was my shelter, my strength, my guide,

But now I walk with a shadow by my side.

It hurts to know he’s not here with me,

Yet I find peace in where he must be.

I don’t wait for his return, I know he’s gone,

But sometimes it feels too hard to move on.

The world feels heavy, and my heart so light,

But I know he’s resting in peaceful night.

I hope he’s proud of who I might be,

Even though I’m still searching for the best in me.

I’ve not made grand marks, nor earned much praise,

But I carry his love through all my days.

I’ve tried my best, though it feels so small,

In a world where I’ve yet to stand tall.

No medals, no trophies to show my worth,

But I know he saw beyond this earth.

I write these words, the first I’ve ever penned,

Wondering if it’s something to commend.

For in this poem, I pour my soul,

In hopes he sees, that I am whole.

Not in achievements or worldly gain,

But in the love that still remains.

In every breath, in every tear,

I feel him close, I feel him near.

And though he’s gone, I know he’s free,

Watching over, still guiding me.

One day, I hope, he’ll see and smile,

And say, “My dear, you’ve walked your mile.”

For now, I’ll keep him in my heart,

As I journey on, though we’re apart.

Knowing he’s proud, in his own way,

Of the girl who’s learning to find her way.
