Earth 2.0 Destiny Or Disaster?

The Earth was a beautiful place, full of life and energy. It was clean and green. It was supposed to go on forever. But then Earth 2.0 happened which changed everything.

Beyond what the natural eyes can see, the Hubble telescope was always there to see beyond and explore what no man could by himself. And then it found Earth 2.0 also known among the scientific community as Kepler-452b. SETH (Society for Earth’s Total Replacement Home) and its scientists keep researching the various challenges and opportunities for the citizens of the Earth to find a new home. President James Keppler funded this as the ultimate solution for his fellow citizens of the USA to escape the pollution of the Earth.

Many other world leaders joined this initiative from China, Canada, India, South Africa and Brazil to name a few. They were all fed up with the constant pollution that the Earth was suffering from. They wanted a better future for their children. Who wouldn’t at all? Wouldn’t Earth 2.0 give us a great reset to start our destiny fresh with knowledge of our past mistakes and how to avoid them?

But most of Africa and the native Americans were not willing to give up the Earth and opted out of this programme. These were led by the rebel Adam Green, a former SETH scientist. Adam just wanted all of humanity to say no to the concept of Earth 2.0 and work with what we have. And for this he was jailed, well not at least technically but dumped into a lunatic asylum in Siberia.

President James made this announcement to the world that was broadcast on the news and all forms of social media about Earth 2.0 which was “People of the World, today we all are to vote about our future. Think of this future as not just about ourselves but also about our children and their children. The Earth is dying. Look at it this way; we have used almost all of our natural resources such as coal and gas. Our waters have got polluted due to the nuclear wars we’ve had to attain world peace. We have peace indeed with a united world but if we have to fulfil this peace why not do it in a place that is better? Why don't we just have a button to reset all of this and live the rest of our lives in a pristine place which we all know as Earth 2.0? It's up to you to decide, but remember each of your votes has power to change our destiny and now…”

Just as James was talking, the network got interrupted with Adam Green’s recording which went like this; “O people of the Earth. We have just one Earth and that’s all we need. Do you think that this pollution that these world leaders as they claim to be, came by itself? This all began with our minds. All of this contamination wouldn’t have been possible without our collective greed to get more out of nature as the cost of our future. Even if this scheme that they are selling is really going to work, do you believe that you can just give up this greedy mindset before you reach Earth 2.0. Think about this, if you were able to think clean and be kind to nature, why can’t you work with this Earth itself and make it work for all of us. And now make a note, select a no on your vote so that I can make…” Transmission interrupted by the staff of James. And then James continued, “I don’t know how this Green man Adam (chuckling) was able to sabotage our feed but let me assure you vote for what is right or simply be left. I mean left back”

And this all happened in the year 2156. Spaceships upon spaceships taking up billions of people and their pets started heading towards Earth 2.0 in full force. The technology was advanced to ensure that all those who voted in favour of moving over to Earth 2.0 were automatically given access to the one way ride to this new replacement Earth by SETH’s AI system. While those who said no in their votes were left behind on Earth to fend for themselves.

Now as the mothership commandeered by Keppler was approaching Earth 2.0’s atmosphere, James decided to automatically sync all the spaceships to his own. Together they gathered on sector 27 and started mining for resources. But while mining they found both Uranium and petroleum resources close to each other. Greed set in and they couldn’t stop themselves from trying to gather every ore and fuel simultaneously. SETH’s scientists tried to control the people from overzealous mining but now Keppler simply vetoed their policies and got them all jailed up on Earth 2.0. Within a few months, the planet's resources kept reducing but humanities greed did not.

Keppler got assassinated when he tried to stop the misuse of resources. Rumor had it was his own colleagues who plotted this as they wanted to gain total control of the planet while allowing Earth 2.0 resources to be exploited unceasingly. This corruption went on for several years. Then one day it all went wrong, Earth 2.0 was far more radioactive than Earth and while drilling for Uranium there was an explosion which went into a chain reaction. Billions of people either died or got sore mutations due to the radiation spread across all sectors of Earth 2.0. The survivors tried to escape but couldn’t use the spaceships as all their controls were synced to Keppler’s mother ship which in turn could run only with Keppler’s biometrics actively paired up with the systems. These people later succumbed to the radiation while the others suffered from the contamination of the air, food and water which later mutated them into sickly looking beings.

Now while this destruction was going on Earth 2.0, Adam Green assumed leadership of Earth. The various African nations and the indigenous Native Americans all co-operated with the rest of the people from different parts of the world to stop the misuse of fossil fuels. Being focussed on clean thoughts and cleaner environment they gave up all greed and made the Earth much more pristine than before.

Adam wanted to try to rescue those on Earth 2.0 as he had set up a spy drone on the spaceships that headed there, but realised it was not going to happen due to Keppler’s agenda of syncing all the spaceships to his own spaceship. So with a tearful prayer the inhabitants of the Earth set up a memorial to the part of humanity that was doomed on Earth 2.0 and also a warning to future generations to work on their own minds first before trying anything risky!
