Drowning In My Sleep

How naive he thought of me,

laughing in my face he ditched me on this day.

The sun was setting and the trees were wondering,

"Why was she crying under her favourite tree?"

Juggling with words, he booted aside my trust,

my legs spun numb, and I felt dumb.

Made me a joke, enjoyed every sip of this toast.

Used to think I was close,

giving him too many chances, was it all a show?

Trampling my dreams used to wait for the wrenching,

This is what you earn for loving somebody so deeply.

Had yearned for this shine, dusting aside the differences, made efforts to thrive.

Killed with his sins, killed with proclamations,

the world came thrashing with unbendable truths.

Why does everyone betray? Why does everyone play?

Some regrets always stay.

It was never my fault, why did you stall?

The feelings have turned into ashes, running through my veins.

Breaking all the promises he enquires of my grief...

Kissing the new beloved he recalls me indeed

lying down beside her, satisfying his needs,

thinking of the poems I wrote for him in need.

Wishing for his happiness I recall this as a dream.

Gulping down the poison I will love you till my last breath,

oh boy, you were such a shame.

Devotion is madness, recalling all the episodes, I’ll drown in my sleep.
