Drowning

My last breath it leaves my throat,

While my world crashes like a sunken boat.

The noises muffled in my head,

As I yearn to be back in bed.

The last light catches my eye,

I try to breathe, I really do try.

With my head under the surface, there isn't much I can do,

As I stop making attempts to push through.

Screaming and shouting or asking for help,

I've stopped doing that, I don't even yell.

No one can hear me so deep where I am,

As my mind consumes me from where I began.

My body goes numb, my lungs don't float,

All the oxygen is sucked out of my bones.

The people keeping me alive, they're all long gone,

As I think of the ones that I adorn.

It all goes black, I've lost my mind,

While it takes me down the path of time.

Memories, they pull me back in

As the world goes quiet and the lights now dim
