Don’t Let Me Freeze

By Shifana

The cold climbed upon me through the soles of my feet,

from kissing the bare, icy tiles.

I clung to the rails of the gate,

only to be stung by the frosty metal.

It rained all night amidst the gloomy vault of dusk.

No heavy piece of cloth could soothe my ache for your warmth,

or feed my hunger for you.

For your only flaw

is your absence when I need you the most.

If I must,

I’ll stand in the pouring rain until I turn numb.

Will you then run to me, my love,

and breathe life into me?
