Do Words Listen?

Sometimes the world seemed to have betrayed you.

Even the funniest thing can't seem to entertain you.

Oh, how I wish

I could have a breakdown,

for me to cry so effortlessly

and let it all out.

But there is something that holds me back.

It could be the worries

I might bestow upon the person

who sees me cry,

or the judgmental eyes

that wander around

my helpless state.

Hopefully, in the future,

a person might come

for whom I could lean on,

for whom I could rant

about my life

and who would listen.

I suppose writing

truly eases my mind—

letting out the things

that I can't normally talk about.

Now I know

why writing was a hobby of mine.

It cures my dried-up tears.

A space where I feel

as though someone

is secretly listening

to my worries.

How it is pleasurable.

Sweet,

yet bitter.
