Disappear Like A Dream
By Parineeta Habib
Like a dream within a dream;
I scream how cold and unfeeling
It seems, in this morning of a stolen dream.
How my arms strain of the pain that my bad sleeping position entails;
My heart aches of a familiar pain as I shuffle through my satin dress,
Is this a game or have I been framed by brain;
How do I return back to my intoxicated lucid state?
Deluded shame, illusion of dismay;
I pray my dreams stay, not to tarnish away under my satin pillowcase;
My mind plays tricks far beyond my nostalgic bliss— a perfect little thief,
stealing my dream’s grief.
Slave to my own creation, nightmare of frustration.
My dreams gone slipping away before dawn;
Im just a pawn after my first yawn.
Silent sighs drawn, a wistful cry of frowns.
As the fabric lies under my dreamy goodbyes overdrawn.
