Ek is afgesny, gebreek

vir die vuur bestem

asof my lewenslange prag

moet uitloop

op hitte vir die mens.

'n Skrynwerker het my opgetel

in sy hande rond gedraai

in my die meer gesien

wat ek kon bied

my uit die vuur gered

liefderyk my gedraai, gevorm

om op die deftigste tafels

te mag pryk.
