Die lelike eendjie

Een vir een stap ons in n ry

die teer is nat en my voet het gegly

die seer is onmiddelik soos die laggende stemme vloeiend af die eendjie lyn

Die water is naby en nie een gaan stop om genees te bied vir die binneste pyn

Vir by die water moet dit rustig wees

Die riete moet sing en die dam bring gees

Die plek van skuiling is ons daarheen oppad

maar die lelikste eendjie se siel is glad

Die familie is hard en hul siel het geen sein

waarheen ons gaan het hul liefde verdwyn

been vir been en kap vir kap

mooi by mooi in sagte reen

Een vir een en stap vir stap

hard by hard en sag alleen

Vier tone aan elke voet

My bloed is suur maar my liefde soet

My trane drip so van my vere af

My bloed drein duk met my vlerke laf

Waar sal my dae kom met verlore moed

Vir by die water sal ek my skoon was

daar sal my hart oorvloei met my sure bloed

Vir by die water sal ek dan in pas
