Detentions and Daydreams

I look out the classroom window, sit and ponder.

The outlook inspires bits of magic and wonder.

Sun sets, trees stand tall, a horizon with no thunder.

The clarity I seek from turmoil, my eyes yonder.

There lies a piece of paradise far beyond these trees,

Sort of peace I seek, kill your bleakness with me.

Feelings so hollow, emptiness vast, it’s forty past three.

With my brother I talk about life, oh how things used to be.

The clock hands wave at me, can I wave back?

Leave this room with no regrets, no backtracks.

The endless hallways feel home, silence kills the lone.

But alone we all die, it’s you on your own.

I look with glee at the white steel framed door,

There’s just five minutes left till four.

Here comes freedom, beyond boredom I soar,

Home sweet home I come, your son in valor.
