Destined Love
By Madhusmita Das
After years, they again met but this time the adult version of them, in a new place, an old vintage coffee shop in a local street. As they looked into each other’s eyes filled with love they felt like nothing has changed except one thing. They didn’t know what was stopping them to open up like the way the ‘teen’ self of them used to do, maybe a simple awkwardness or a guilt of letting go of something beautiful? Neither of them knew.
As the uncle, the owner of the shop came towards them holding two cups of coffee in his hand, they smiled looking into each other’s eyes with the same enthusiasm as they used to have and somehow started a beautiful conversation. The conservation may or may not lead to something meaningful but it was like a rose blooming in a mucky area.
As the wind blows up, they walked by the narrow street hesitating to hold each other’s hand thinking what if the history repeats itself. But as the Hindi proverb says, “Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kiya”, they hold each other’s hand but this time more firmly with no intention of leaving each other in the mid-way. Maybe this is what we call destiny.
