Destination

By Aparna J

A train of thoughts pulled away from my mind’s railway station.

On a journey to an unknown destination.

All the passengers inside were memories of the past.

Wondering how long the journey would last.

Glimpses of childhood faded away soon,

The train now radiated the heat of the noon,

The landscape shifted to a youthful struggle.

Trying to figure out each piece of life's puzzle.

Some passengers exchanged pleasantries,

Sharing positive vibes from sweet memories.

A couple of them were shaken to the core,

Fearing what their future had in store.

The train rushed past the barren field,

Where the seeds of fear and death produced the yield.

The vulture of pessimism hovered over the nearly dead,

Who were praying for a piece of bread.

This train halted at the station of Reflection,

Self-conscience as the ticket checker came for inspection.

Some passengers were travelling without a ticket.

They were bad memories and their intentions were wicked.

The ticket checker made them to disembark from the train,

And laughter rippled through the compartment like sunlight after rain.

Lush green scenery soon made their way,

As the downpour of wisdom washed insecurity away.

This represented the stage of a matured adulthood,

Constantly on the move with no time to brood.

As the train passed through the tunnel of the brain,

The memories came together again.

The train of thoughts stopped at the door of death,

All the passengers vanished as life took its last breath.

So, let go of the burden of animosity and live.

For love multiplies, the more you get, the more you give.
