Desiderium

By Anushka Dey

If I don't wake up tomorrow

The flowers won't change colour

Bees would still hover

Over them , the birds would still fly

And embrace the infinite vastness of the sky

Coffee would taste the same

I won't be around to take a sip , what a shame

The world would work with its same old break neck pace

Because looking back at a fallen runner is luxury in this race

For them the garden is still brightly shaded

But you feel that all the colours have faded

It is beautiful to it's admirers with or without a single flower

The void in heart only yours and the unconcluded tale ours

Who thought that eternity would be over in a breath

And we will lose our forever to death

But, when you think of me , please don't cry

Our stories are too sweet to be remembered with a sigh

Don't let tears blur your vision , or sorrow cloud your mind

Don't be silly honey ! Grief turned you blind

When the heady scent of wild jasmines fill the air

Smelling just like you lovingly weaved them in my hair

When you are in a car and our song plays

You stay back till it ends like good ole days

When you drop an old book and a note with familiar handwriting slips

As you read it a smile tugs the corner of your lips

When you read my favourite poems or prose

Or pressed between pages of diary you find a dried rose

You will see how laced in those memories I have remained

To live and love again and again
