Desert of Uncertainty
By Dibyendu Maiti
In the 21st century's vast expanse,
Where science and tech hold sway,
We're lost in a world of uncertainty's trance,
Where emotions wither away.
No patience, no love, no sentiments true,
Spirituality's flame flickers out anew,
Hatred, negativity, and jealousy reign,
Selfishness wears the human heart's stain.
We stand at life's crossroads, unsure and alone,
Wondering which path to take, which way to roam,
No clear direction, no guiding light,
Just the whispers of a fading, dying night.
Faith smiles and frowns, a mysterious guide,
Destiny's riddle, a desert to abide,
Life's a journey through shifting sands,
Hawks of despair circling, at our commands.
We're not progressing, just stagnating in pain,
No goal in sight, no purpose to obtain,
Humanity's lost, a punctured, worn-out thing,
No relationships, no love, no emotions to sing.
Sensitivity's a distant, fading memory,
A longing for a time when love was the melody,
But now, it's just a hollow, haunting refrain,
Echoing through the desolate landscape of our brain.
Some ask the questions, but the answers are few,
A wide gap yawns between those who seek and those who pursue,
The emptiness within, a chasm to abridge,
A search for meaning, a cry to rekindle the heart's ridge.
In this desert of uncertainty, we wander and roam,
Seeking an oasis, a refuge from the heart's dark home,
A place to revive, to rediscover our soul,
To relearn love, to rekindle the heart's goal.
But until then, we'll wander, lost and alone,
Through the shifting sands, beneath the hawks' cold throne,
Searching for a glimpse of hope, a light in the night,
A guiding star to lead us out of this endless, darkest fight.
