Desert Delusions

Upon dark terrains the fiery orb blazes,

The wailing wind rages.

Sifting through the silent lands,

In search of buried treasures,

In search of elusive happiness,

Through shifting sands,

The persistent soul searches.

Voiceless, infinite and empty-

The desert appears to be.

But there’s more than that the eye meets.

Here one could find

What he is looking for.

Written into the sands,

Are many stories untold,

Camouflaged, is the glistening gold.

The desert is not barren.

It is the human soul that doesn’t discern.
