Depression - A Nightmarish Sniper

By Akshara A

Face brittles, soul laments

Intermittent anxiety, silent agony

Pretend everything is hunky-dory

-- despite asphyxiating on worry

Depression is brutal, points to fatal

Battling death, aching breath

All urged is, a little glimmer of succor

All desired is, someone near to hear!!

Depression, gut-wrenching havoc!

Relish quietness and fears forlornness;

Cracks firmness and elevates tautness

Ruins enthusiasm and eliminates realism

Ignores optimism and affirms pessimism

Helpless in misery and hopeless in difficulty

All requested is, a cheer to cure

All wanted is, recognition and affection!!

Clutched by nightfall, yearning for sunup

Falling to denials, feeling suicidal

Expiring hope, disremembering beloveds

Fabricating world as hellfire;

Seeking harmony in heaven!

Trapped in thoughts, striving to subdue

Heart suffocates on vague impressions

Mind hopes on consultations!!

Depression - surely noxious

Caches you in low spirits

Conquers brain like a scalded cat

Interdicts an opportunity to act

Restrains to guess the fact --

Passing clouds quandaries

Doubtlessly temporary breakdowns

Undoubtedly reversible upsets

Depression is a thief

Thwarts our belief

Shifts to no state of relief

Granting us immense grief

How is depression roughly dominant?

Why it warps one's perception?

Tricking reality, doubting destiny

Surviving in its uncertainty!!
