Death's Caress

Alone in my mind, i sit and wonder,

Wonder what death is..

To some it is a reluctant painful parting

To others, death is a welcome friend.

To those in death, it is just a flash. A changing of soul from one vessel to another

But to those surrounding death, all the loved ones left behind, it is a lifetime of sorrow and pain. A lifetime of memories and longing.

Humans think of death as a cloaked figure holding a scythe.

Perhaps they do so because In their minds, only a horrid looking figure can be responsible for something as horrible as death.

Maybe it gives them solace to think that the passing was not their fault. After all, what can a simple mortal do against a monster shrouded in darkness.

But, alone in my mind, I think,

I think of death as something that is not constant. Something ever-flowing as a river,

As beautiful as a freshly composed melody.

I think of death as I would think of a lover, with adoration and admiration.

For what meaning does life have without death?

Life is but a journey from one death to the other.

Life is but a mortal's struggle to give remembrance to each death.

And, alone in my mind, I wish,

I wish that in my passing, death will craddle me as a mother would craddle her child.

And in death's loving hands i will find the redemption i crave.
