Remember when the sky was blue

When happiness was all you knew

And your eyes shined with the brightest dreams

And fire in you was tearing at its seams.

Remember when the fairytales were true

The world and everything in it was yours to achieve

And your heart beat rapidly with excitement

Of all that you could be.

You've come a long way since, my girl

The paths you chose had turns you didn't see coming

Who knows for better or worse

You've grown stronger, kinder and weary.

I often look back and think of you

The girl who wanted to make everyone proud

My only hope is that when you see me now

You're happy with how it all turned out.
