Dear Diary
Dear diary
As I sit here by myself
At the corner of the playground
I watch as the other kids
Laugh, play and smile
All while life feels too loud
Last night mommy left me a plate
Upon the counter top
Half eaten bread and a slab of jam
When I walked to the lounge
The silence grew louder
I have to go to the hospital again
Almost feels like a second home
The nurses are nice
They let me read some of my favourite books And I get the comfiest beds I have ever felt
Sometimes feels weird
My body can't keep up with all my friends I guess that's why we don't play that much anymore
My hair fell out on my pillow this morning Like little black threads of a broken toy I tried to sweep it under the bed
So daddy wouldn't have to clean it up
He had the storm face today
The prickly birds are back in my feet
And my mouth tastes like rusty old coins The doctor says the bad cells are winning I feel like that show, The Invisible Man Because mommy walked right past my room
I tried to throw up very quietly tonight So I wouldn't interrupt the TV downstairs I know the medicine costs all the money And I am sorry I ruined the summer
Dear diary, I think I will sleep now
The Heavy is filling up my arms
I hope if I disappear completely tonight Daddy will finally find his missing keys
