I dream of dead children and old friends

I dream of dead children and old friends,

They offer me fresh donuts and expired bread.

If only to help me forget the cauterized legs.

I dream of dead children and old friends.

The cruel and mighty are faceless,

The murder of an unborn child is shown only through their thick lens.

And so, they deem my salty tears tasteless.

I dream of dead children and old friends.

They seem taller and less frightful like old sins.

And yet, I wonder why you were not there,

Nameless and faceless they took my child away.

I wonder if you were there, would you fight for my way?

I dream of dead children and old friends.
