Dead by Dawn

Let me tell you a sad tale,

about a girl who isn’t allowed to cry

or feel.

Chasing perfection that isn’t ever clean,

a puppet with a heart carved out of stone.

For being a trophy on a shelf, she

was born.

With a light inside & a heavy heart,

she was told not to talk much and be

smart.

Perhaps, in dreams her soul could fly,

to a place where others were allowed,

not cry.

But working through the cage locked to hide,

those golden bars which her spirit

tight within.

A life of silence, a world of sorrow,

No hope for a different tomorrow,

A fragile existence, eating with bitterness,

For she must learn and make the world…
