Dancing With The Devil

I locked eyes with him

Across the ballroom.

Dancing in the arms of some bloke

Who I knew made him fume.

It was one of the games we played,

This one was called "Who got more jealous?"

He played along, dancing with a woman he didn't seem interested in

But I didn't call his bluff.

It was a game we played but neither of us lost.

The music changed and so did the partners.

I landed in his arms, a man I despised the most.

He locked eyes with mine with a taunting smirk.

I stared back into his haunting green eyes, they resembled a ghost.

It was one of the games we played,

This one was called "The eye contact".

I played along, swaying to the music, my eyes boring into his,

Keeping up with the act.

It was a game we played but neither of us lost.

The music changed again but he didn't let me go.

He told me he wanted to keep dancing with me until the end of the time.

I told him "Dancing is a dangerous game."

He tipped his head back and laughed a laugh I considered a crime.

It was one of the games we played,

This one was called "Dancing".

I played along, hands on his shoulder and his on my waist.

He tightened his hold on my bare back, his fingers whispering and caressing.

It was a game we played but neither of us lost.
