dahlias

On a random tuesday I decide to live again

The flowers wilting in my backyard

Have coloured regret all over the floor

Dahlias the colour of death or spring

Depending on how much optimism sits in your body

There’s something about April heat

That made me want to rearrange my bones into a promise

An oath

To not just be a skeleton anymore

Is sitting in regret and sinking in floors part of healing?

Or am I walking down the wrong path?

Every year feels like more hope waiting to be shattered inside me

More flowers wilting inside me

More sunshine going to waste on empty cold corners

But i decide to sit in the light anyways

I live not out of choice

But out of desperation for change

For wanting to be filled with something again

To have something that holds me to the ground

So i don’t drift again

To have flowers blooming inside me again

Colour that is not just red

Colour that is not just violence

Colour that is not just death
