Curse of Venus
By Aranya Mandal
O Lady Venus, goddess of love and beauty, Oldest of Olympians, spawn of Uranus, Queen of Cyprus, risen from the waves, mother of Cupid, Harmony, Fear and Panic, Aeneas, Foremother of Rome, the Changer of Hearts, the Lucky, the Victorious, the Purifier, the Heavenly and the Celestial, the Indulgent & the Alma.
So great you are, so majestic, so universal, so revered and worshiped.
You blessed Pygmalion, you bless plenty, but those you curse, oh heavens pity them, and hell weeps for them, for they are beyond the help of any and all.
Doomed for eternity of misery, much like Aurora, never to know ease.
Yet you also know mercy, you know pity and kindness, you know empathy,
You know love unbound, rage uncontrollable and kindness immeasurable.
Vast is your heart, akin to abyss unbound, glowing are your eyes akin to stars,
Red are your lips akin to warrior blood, much like the sons born from your womb.
O Wave-risen, you render hearts and leave them in fragments innumerable,
You mend hearts that are in fragments innumerable, great is your mercy, but
Greater is your fury. Feared you are by even the Sun-eyed king of gods,
Desired you are by even the civilian guarding Avenger, such is your grace.
Glory to your grace, glory to you when you assume your war state, mercy
To those who caused you to invoke it. Love is the greatest of destroyers and enslaver to all, and you are destroyer and enslaver of love, glory to you,
From your hair are arrows fired and from your beckon wars fought.
