“Corners”

As pain arrives to collect what’s left in the light

It comes quiet, in the shadows, beyond our fight

Nothing can block it; no plea can stall it.

Sitting in fear, we bear everything as it hums the tune signing that end is near

It stays even in its unwelcomed state.

Is this fate or an echo through the halls of what could've been something great.

Whisper the truths that we are not ready to hear

It buries into the skin deeply asking "What are you so afraid of?"

I tremble as it does relent, going into quiet places I dare not name.
