Convoluted Love

By Amira Wells

You look around and you see

The love that’s in the air.

You then get this feeling being evoked from your body,

A sense of hopelessness.

Wishing that maybe it’ll happen for you that way.

Then remembering how much of a stress it is.

Looking back at your parents and how they turned out.

Seeing your closest person and the tears flowing down their cheeks,

Like a river in the middle of a storm.

Knowing how society has dominated people’s thought of minds.

Thinking about how hard a mission it’s going to be,

Trying to find someone who loves you for you and only you.

Then, realizing that it’s going to be okay.

You will find that person one day.

And when you find that person,

You know how much you’ll love and appreciate everything they do

For you, for him, and you both.

For right now, you take this time and enjoy that me, myself, and I mindset.

Take time to love every part of yourself, head to toe, oh so genuinely.

Reconnect with who you are as a person.

Whether that’d be mentally, physically, or emotionally.

Treat yourself to the finer things in life.

Make it a luxury for you.

So then, when the man upstairs decides it’s time,

He will sprout a blessing in front of your face.

He’ll make sure to pull your heartstrings so that you know....this is it.
