Consider Falling For Me

I know all it has given you is hurt and pain,

But do you think you'll fall in love again?

If you ever do, if the possibility you see,

Can you please consider falling for me?

Not in the way that prayers are made

Nor in the way that wars are fought

But just tell me that you won't resist it,

That you'll at least entertain the thought.

And after all this if you decide not to,

For whatever reasons, real or untrue;

For years of our friendship in the making,

I would suggest you forget about it all;

For what could be more heartbreaking,

Than a silly thought causing a downfall.
