Conscious Battles

My mind wanders every time I try to stay still

All the sadness, ambushing the positivity that lays innocently

They all say it’s easy

To defeat the battles ongoing in our minds

But my thoughts weaken my defence, and everything in this world stops for a split second

Making me realise the gravity of my decisions

The mere consequences of each of my actions,

So severe yet so simple

Everyday, as I robotically scatter through my routine My love for myself fades away,

Covering the priceless rays of happiness and causing pain A pain I hope that no one else feels,

And slight loneliness that I wish would pass away quickly

As the tears I hoped that wouldn’t fall gravitate towards the ground My heart hurts and aches as though it’s being cut open and all my feelings

are bleeding away

But as I close my eyes, a faint smile appears on my face And I applaud myself for getting through the day

I smile harder, because I’m grateful for all the happiness in my life That sometimes the curtains of my insecurities closes away And as my mind slowly retires I think of my family that made sure I was okay
