Cold Wishes of Forever

By Bhavana Kanna Vadupu

1.

I am breathing

Yet choking inside;

Did you take all my air?

Did you take all my air;

When you kissed me;

When you laughed with me;

When you called me

To claim me;

When you cried with me;

When you left me

For me;

Did you?

Did you take all my air?

Now I am choking

Praying death reach us

Before I never am near you.

All I know now,

I am breathing

Yet choking inside.

And I can’t help but wonder

Did you take all my air?

2.

Nights are nice.

I mean, it is cold

But I have this

Power to shut the windows.

I have this

Power to wrap a blanket around

To cuddle with my plushie

Pushing the cold away.

I have this sinister energy

To turn the light

And make it look like a day.

I haven’t invented any of this

But I don’t remember the

World before electricity

Just like I do not remember

A me; before there was you.

And I realize all this

Natural power looks

Weirdly exhausting

While I have tears

Rolling down

All while I realize

These is no you anymore

And I fail to remember

A me; before you.

Still, I persist with the thought

Nights are nice;

It is now that you

Choose to complete your

Daily step count

Running in my thoughts

It’s cold, but remember?

I have a blanket wrapped

And a plushie to push

The cold away.

3.

I’ll sing you a song, he said.

The moon reminds me of you, he said.

Staring at the blank sky with

Sparkling lights and glittering bugs.

I’ll sing you a song, he said

And I claim to be smiling;

Listening him breathe tales about

Stale bulb on blank sky,

Miles away from our cold space

And I claim to be smiling;

At your naïve thought of me

Seeing stale bulb on blank sky

Miles away from our cold space,

While I have atoms of air enveloping me

Calling me by your name

And you say, you sing me a song

Seeing moon on blank sky.
