‘Closer To Her Heart’

By Ava Darwin

My body falls the way Mother Nature intends

Each piece of skin

Is marked by her needs for us to be closer to her core

Her heart.

We curve

And bend

in the way she intends

She ‘curses’ us with marks

Of moments we’ve laughed,

She kisses our cheeks

And lengthen our hair

So that memories may grow

And those memories we share
