City Of Secrets

By Srividya Yeluripati

The city life holds many secrets

The secrets hidden in the neon lights of the darkest night

The chaos in the street

Yet each individual is lonely to the core

Waiting for the time where they can be truly themselves

Tired of hiding the natural emotions

Tired of pretending to be available and happy all the time

Tired of starting another day with big wide smile they don’t have in life

The city life during day is all hustle bustle

Smiling as if we enjoy the work we are doing

Laughing out loud as if the jokes really kicked in

Meeting and greeting people as we really are pleased to meet them

But – in reality

We hide our grey shades

Just for the sake of getting work done

Just to be in company of others

We fake

We fake everything to make our ends meet

What we truly are

Is shown in the night

Even though the night is dark

It drops the hints of light and dark

Grey and white

Truly the city holds many secrets which are buried again in the morning.
