Choices

By Akshara Pandey

We all make our choices

Copium to me are words and poetry

And your vice comes in a glass.

We all make decisions

Like you slowly drifting away

And me choosing to go on without your presence

We all make up our minds

Finding contentment in silence

And you choosing denial

We all love and we all hurt-

Like I hurt myself to love you,

And you loved me for doing so.

We all write our stories-

I write and turn to pages fresh and blank;

And you erase away to rewrite your narrations again and again,

Remanence of graphite lingers still on paper.

Haunted by the words etched prior,

We all find ourselves.

I found myself by the edge of a cliff breaking down but not giving up,

And you found yourself buried under debris of a building u toppled over.

We both feel sorrow,

But it isn't same.

We all sit.

I sit with my peace by myself,

And you on that high throne with a crown made of stones.

You sit in an empty court so cold,

And I sit in my warm home.
