Childhood Friendships

In fields of golden laughter, we used to run,

Chasing shadows beneath the sun.

Our knees were scraped, our hearts were light,

We built castles in the fading light.

The secret handshakes, the pinky swears,

The endless games and messy hairs.

No worries, no weight, just endless play,

Oh, how I miss those simpler days.

We spoke with eyes, no words required,

Our little dreams so pure, inspired.

Climbing trees, and counting stars,

Believing we’d someday touch Mars.

But time, that thief, it moved so fast,

Those golden days became the past.

Yet in my heart, you still remain,

A childhood friend, a sweet refrain.

So here’s to us, to days long gone,

To the sunsets we sat upon.

Though life has pulled us far apart,

You’ll always have a piece of my heart.
