Childhood

When did the child in me, leave?

Was it when I decided I will not say much,

Or when I was horrified by that first unwanted touch?

Was it when I realised I need to restrict my desires,

For the society will accept me,

Only if I accept their rules, and act as a complier?

Was it when I realised I had to love my self dearly,

For the world will try to pull me down,

Not everyone likes a person who rebels,

And speaks their rights clearly?

Was it when I had to be on my own,

For I realised health does not just mean physical,

But your emotionalboundaries too,

Need to be set in stone?

Was it when I stopped looking at my parents as

in fallible,

Forthey too arehuman,

To erris them,

Why can’t they make mistakes,

After all, weren’t they too once children?

Was it when I realised that being nice,

Came at a price,

For humanity is a fairytale,

What prevailsis selfishness,

And anarchy is far from just a tale

Was it when I realised didn’t need a lot of friends,

Just a few of them who really cared,

For most of them just wanted to whine about themselves,

My side of the story, they didn’t bother to hear?

When did the child in me leave?
