Cherish The Lies

By Akriti

Death

is the ultimate truth of life

or so I’ve heard.

When a person dies

a part of the universe dies with them.

Everything they’ve experienced

and felt

everything they’ve been through

dies as well.

This life was never our own

it was always a gift

and we could lose it

in the blink of an eye.

The pain

the horror

the sorrow

the grief that is left behind

when a soul departs this world

it all ends up to become

the only truth that there ever was.

Losing someone you love

is soul shattering

but at some point

you’ve got to pick up the pieces

and live your life

twice as much

for yourself

and for the one you’ve lost.

It takes courage to embrace

the hole

that is left

within your soul

by their absence.

And when you realise

how uncertain and unreliable

this life is

how little time you’ve left

at any particular moment

you’ve got to start making the most

out of being alive

you’ve got to love the people

around you more

because this might be the last time.

So let me just cherish the lies

a little longer

as death

is the ultimate truth of life

or so I’ve been told.
