Cheerharan: The Silence of the Sabha
By Chandan MK
Draupadi… Cheerharan… Krishna…
And the deafening silence of the Sabha.
A queen, dragged by her hair—
once the pride of the Pandavas,
now paraded like a sin she never committed.
Gambled like an object,
her dignity wagered by those
who called themselves husbands.
Her existence reduced to a “stake,”
her voice rising above the clinking dice,
like a cry caught between thunder and prayer.
The elders watched—
their wisdom melted into fear.
The warriors stayed silent—
their valour, a ghost behind trembling lips.
And the Sabha—
a grand assembly of cowards,
pretending righteousness while hiding guilt.
Only one voice rose—divine yet human,
Krishna—not as a god above,
but as a conscience within.
He did not descend from the heavens—
He emerged from her faith,
from her unbroken belief that truth
never kneels before power.
“Who gave you the right to stake me?”
Her words split the air like lightning,
tearing through centuries of patriarchy.
No one answered.
Because truth, when spoken by the wronged,
terrifies the comfortable.
That question still hangs—
in every office where harassment is hidden,
in every household where silence is worshipped,
in every courtroom where delay feels like denial.
This wasn’t just an ancient injustice.
It is a mirror,
and we are still reflected in it.
In every workplace where a woman is told to “adjust,”
In every home where bruises are covered with silence,
In every society where a survivor’s truth is doubted—
another Cheerharan begins.
And sometimes, it isn’t just women.
Every soul stripped of dignity,
every voice muted by fear,
is a Draupadi in that moment.
When truth becomes entertainment,
when empathy becomes inconvenience,
and when morality hides behind “procedure,”
the Sabha is reborn.
Be like Krishna—one act of courage can change fate.
Be unlike the Sabha—neutrality is not nobility; it is cowardice.
Be like Draupadi—rise, even when the world pulls you down.
Because divinity does not come from miracles;
it comes from the courage to say, “Enough.”
Ask yourself today:
Are you Draupadi—humiliated, but undefeated?
Are you Krishna—brave enough to stand alone for someone else?
Or are you the Sabha—righteous in appearance, silent in truth?
Each day, life tests which one we are.
And history quietly records our choice.
Let us stop waiting for avatars to save us.
Be the one who speaks when it is hardest.
Raise your voice where silence kills.
Stop the silence. Stop the shame.
Stop the next Cheerharan—before it begins.
