Chasing Butterflies

I’m not a lepidopterist catching numerous butterflies

It’s just that one butterfly I want as the prize

Many hovering in the open space

Nevertheless, it’s only one that I chase

This one is unique from the lot

And I can’t help but easily spot

Her flying here and there for a nectar

And I, humming to the tune of the guitar

Following her wherever she goes

Serenading her, and in my hand a rose

When she is done wandering and lie down

I’d sing her a lullaby and hand her a crown

Then display her that many would covet

Thereafter, I’d hide her in my closet

Keeping her would be an absolute honor

Oh, what a splendid way to persuade her
