Certain Uncertainty

I am afraid.

I am afraid of future’s uncertainty

And sometimes I’m afraid of its certainty.

I cower on the thought of becoming another passer by:

Uncertain of life yet moving forward with certainty.

I am afraid.

I am afraid that one day my life would stop being meaningful;

As I observe the people around me driven by an unhappy routine,

I feel uneasy on thinking that one day I might just be existing

Neither surviving nor really living the life as I had imagined.

I am afraid.

I am afraid of my decisions taken by someone else,

Whose life might revolve around mine just as mine would around theirs.

I deny to submit myself into that uncertain certainty.

But without any declaration it would take over us.

I am afraid.

I am afraid of such certain uncertainties

That might definitely invade my life like a pathogen.

And it might be too late to realize that I’ve become a victim.

Because somehow in the end that is what life is.
