Cemetery Love

By Abhirami J. S.

Having seen a fleeting glance of you at the park,

My mind strolls through the cemetery of my soul

Where I buried us long ago.

My heart holding its breath to not smell your scent,

It’s cold fingers digging the hard soil frantically,

Trying to find the rotting smell of buried us.

Pressing its nose desperate for a foul stench;

It never found an odor more strong yet sweet,

That my heart topples over its feet,

Its head breaking into two.

Taking an unsteady breath filled with

The fragrance of us and you combined,

I look back searching for your eyes in the park,

Hoping it would embrace mine;

Only to see none but the stilled air frozen with pain,

At that moment, my love, I fell in love with you again.
